I really need to get down to business. I need to get back to going to bed at 10:30 every night. This is really difficult when you are twenty-two and live in Manhattan. Give me three months, and I'm going to turn this car around.

www.myspace.com/nicejugsmusic

My Jug Band is in the works. While I do not know anything about actually making music or using Garage Band, this is just one step in the direction of starting a jug band.

While I am overjoyed to have today off work, I think it is also important to remember that MLK was a pretty cool cat. I wish I could say I stayed up until 5:30 reflecting upon this fact, but beer and pancakes admittedly played a larger role.

Things have been going generally pretty well lately. I still need to figure some stuff out and rearrange and do some shuffling but you know zee life eez good.

2008

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before? graduated college
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I think my resolution was the same it is every year...to take up smoking, gain 5 pounds...etc. i'm still working on it.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? ew no
4. Did anyone close to you die? no thank God
5. What countries did you visit? America!
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? I feel pretty content. I would like to have some sort of epiphany about what I'm going to do with my life though.
7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? My first day of work. I don't actually remember what day it was but it was the end of August sometime.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? graduating college...pretty baller...writing my thesis
9. What was your biggest failure? The like two day span I quit facebook for.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? nope
11. What was the best thing you bought? A plane ticket
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? that guy who jumped on someone having a seizure in the subway
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? i can think of someone i guess
14. Where did most of your money go? this is kind of pathetic, but bar tabs. that's what living with your parents will do to you...i've been saving practically all my money
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? graduating college!
16. What song will always remind you of 2007? "Gimme More"...Britney Spears
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? i can't think that far back
ii. thinner or fatter? same
iii. richer or poorer? richer in cash and in spirit
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? hugs
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? oh god so many things
20. How will you be spending Christmas? in 2008? what the hell that's like a year away. regardless, in Wilton I'm sure
22. Did you fall in love in 2007? I fall in love at least twice a week.
23. How many one-night stands? uhhhh
24. What was your favorite TV program? A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila (really?!)
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No no I don't hate anybody and hopefully never will.
26. What was the best book you read? Empire Falls, London is the Best City in America
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Kimya Dawson
28. What did you want and get? to live in New York City
29. What did you want and not get? braces
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Juno, Knocked Up, Superbad, Becoming Jane
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 22 this year and went bowling but didn't actually bowl just hang out at the bar. It was a really good one.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? If I won So You Think You Can Dance
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007? anything ridiculous...like burnt siena silk pajamas, banana costumes, giant red ball gowns...etc.
34. What kept you sane? The Golden Girls
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Fancy? I like that word...um...James Macavoy.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? Immigration
37. Who did you miss? My college friends
38. Who was the best new person you met? I couldn't possibly choose. I have met so many new and awesome people since moving here.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007. Hmmm....I think people only allow themselves to be as happy as they think they deserve to be. I don't know if that makes sense. And also just be kind...it is far too much work being a hater. It's not worth it.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: "Take whatever you think of while I go gas up the truck"

Compared to 2006, 2007 was pretty unremarkable for me. I am optimistic about what's to come though.

Sometimes I find myself in the strangest situations I have to second guess myself and my existence. I lost my wallet too but somehow not my cash.
I have started giving my brother's phone number to strange men that ask for my digits. This caused Dan to call me at work and ask why an Indian man named Frank was calling his cell phone, asking for me. Brian, if you read this, you're next.

Also, at restaurants when waiters put plates down and say, "Don't touch the plate - it's very hot," I always always always have to touch the plate. I do it very quickly so I don't burn myself but I don't know, it just makes me so curious. How hot is the plate really? I bet other people do this too. If the waiter didn't provide such a warning, I probably wouldn't even touch the plate....but who knows! The humanity!

Last night I walked into a screen door. Everyone saw. Also, all I ate yesterday was a canoli.

I canceled my Facebook account, which is a hiatus that will probably last about 3 days. Right now it feels great though. It is finally autumn. autumn autumn autumn. I am going to a Book Festival with new friends today. I am thinking of making this journal friends only again so I can write about my deepest, darkest secrets. I shared secrets last night with two of my friends. I felt bad because I already knew Hilary's secret so it was anti-climactic. I just used the word "secret" too many times in three sentences. There is a best-selling book called "The Secret." It looks stupid.

Everyone keeps talking about her performance at the VMAs and yes it was pretty boring but I really really liked her sparkly underwear.

I have a feeling this happens to a lot of people but sometimes when I am walking home from work or I am running in the park and a real toe-tapper of a song comes onto my iPod, all I want to do is frolick. I have never had the guts to do so and probably never will but today I saw this woman in the park doing these athletic looking skips and I thought maybe I could just skip when a good song came on. I could make my skipping look all athletic-like with strong and commanding arms.
